Quick recap

In 2049, freshman Congressman Donald Keene gets a strange job from Senator Paul Thurman: design a shelter for nuclear waste. It's a cover for Operation Fifty, the origin of the silos. When the bombs fall, Donald enters Silo 1 and is frozen. He wakes up in shifts, under the name Troy, his memory wiped by pills. The book leaps across centuries: it shows the uprising of Mission, a young man in Silo 18, and the fall of Silo 17, where a boy named Jimmy Parker survives alone and starts calling himself Solo. In the end, Donald learns that only one silo will be allowed to survive, and he talks to Juliette over the radio.
