The family reunites at Fraser's Ridge, and Jamie reads in Frank's book that he'll die at the Battle of Kings Mountain. Meanwhile, the British officer Cunningham recruits Loyalists on Jamie's land, and Benjamin Cleveland becomes a dangerous ally. Fergus learns who his father was, Ian gains custody of his son, and William makes peace with Jamie. A fire at the print shop kills Fergus, and Claire and Jamie tell Fanny that Faith was their daughter. Lord John is kidnapped by Richardson, who turns out to be a time traveler. In the finale, at Kings Mountain, Ferguson shoots Jamie, who dies in Claire's arms. The epilogue shows a white-haired Claire and Jamie opening their eyes, an image the show leaves open.
