New settlers arrive at Fraser's Ridge, among them Tom Christie, an old acquaintance of Jamie's from Ardsmuir prison, and his children, Malva and Allan. Ian comes back from the Mohawk carrying a loss. The Brown brothers form a Committee of Safety and challenge Jamie's authority, while the Revolution draws closer and Jamie fakes loyalty to the Crown. Claire, still shaken, uses ether for surgery and for sleep. Malva gets close to Claire and, pregnant, accuses Jamie of being the father. Soon after, she's found dead, and suspicion falls on Claire. The season ends with Claire arrested by the Browns and taken away from the Ridge.
