Edmund and Lucy spend the holidays with their insufferable cousin Eustace. A painting of a ship drops them into Narnia's sea, aboard the Dawn Treader. King Caspian is sailing east to find seven lords Miraz sent away, and Reepicheep the mouse wants to reach Aslan's country. In the Lone Islands, Caspian ends the slave trade. Eustace turns into a dragon through greed and only becomes a boy again when Aslan peels off his skin; he's a changed person. The ship passes the invisible Dufflepuds, the Dark Island where dreams come true, and the island of the star Ramandu, whose daughter wins Caspian's heart. At the world's end, Reepicheep sails on alone in a little boat. Aslan tells Edmund and Lucy they won't come back.

ChangeThe green mist and seven swords
In the book, the voyage is a search for the seven lords who were friends of Caspian's father. The film invented a green mist that takes slaves and a quest to lay seven swords on Aslan's Table, borrowing ideas from The Silver Chair.
In the book, Eustace isn't a dragon for long and mostly helps with ship chores. In the film, he flies along as a dragon and joins the action to the end.
