Quick recap

On Christmas night, a body in a motel seems to be cop Cal Moore, an apparent suicide. Bosch jumps in uninvited and grows close to the widow, Sylvia. Moore's colleagues tell him about black ice, a Hawaiian drug sold by Mexicans. An autopsy with fruit flies points Bosch to a company that gets shipments from Mexico without inspection. In Mexicali, he survives a shootout and learns that drug lord Zorrillo is Moore's half-brother. The twist: the dead man was Zorrillo, and Moore is alive after faking his own death. When Moore draws on him, Bosch shoots. Then he hides the body so Sylvia keeps getting the pension.
