Quick recap

Renée Ballard runs the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division's new cold case unit, staffed mostly by volunteers. The central case is the murder of Sarah Pearlman, sister of Councilman Jake Pearlman, which ties into the 2008 killing of Laura Wilson, a case Harry Bosch worked. Along the way, the team runs into a police cover-up, a cartel-linked killing and a ring of dirty cops. The killer is Gary Pearlman, the councilman's father, who targeted women on the rise in their careers and killed his daughter when she found his trophies. He kills Rawls and attacks Ballard during a blackout, but ends up in custody. In the end, Ballard is arrested as a suspect in Olivas's death.
