Luce is accused of a crime she can't remember and sent to Sword & Cross, a reform school run by Dr. Howson and twins Miriam and Sophia. There she meets Daniel, who feels he's seen her before, and Cam. With Daniel, she finds files showing he's been at the school for over 20 years without aging. A creature called an Outcast wounds Daniel. Penn dies, and Sophia, who killed her, drags Luce to an altar in the woods while Outcasts overrun the school. Miriam tells Luce to run toward her fear, and she crosses through a rift. The season ends with Daniel and the others facing a blinding light, asking what was done to Luce.
