Quick recap

After the divorce, Helen Grace moves her kids Jared, Simon and Mallory into the old Spiderwick estate. Strange things start happening in the house: things go missing, and Jared takes the blame. He finds a secret library and, in an attic chest, Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide, a book about the faeries that live hidden around us. The culprit behind the chaos is Thimbletack, the house brownie, who's furious about the find. The siblings make peace with him. Then Thimbletack warns that the Guide is dangerous and that keeping it will bring trouble. The book ends with that warning hanging in the air.
