Quick recap

1815. Napoleon escapes Elba, and Sharpe leaves Lucille and his Normandy farm to serve on the Prince of Orange's staff. Harper comes along, posing as a horse trader. Sharpe sees the French crossing the border, but no one believes him, and he rides to warn Wellington at the Duchess of Richmond's ball, where he challenges Rossendale, Jane's lover. At Quatre Bras, one of the prince's orders nearly destroys the 69th. At Waterloo, Hougoumont holds, the British heavy cavalry is cut to pieces and Rossendale is badly wounded. Sick of the prince's blunders, Sharpe shoots him in the shoulder. Against the Imperial Guard he rallies his old regiment, and Wellington gives him command. The Prussians arrive, and that night a woman looter kills Rossendale.
