Quick recap

At a big gathering of Scottish clans in North Carolina, Brianna and Roger marry and their son, Jemmy, is baptized. Governor Tryon calls on Jamie to raise a militia against the Regulators, and Jamie lights the fiery cross to summon his men. At the Battle of Alamance, Roger is hanged by mistake. He survives but loses his singing voice and has to reinvent himself. Jocasta remarries, Claire looks after everyone's health with whatever she has on hand, and Jamie tries to balance loyalty to the Crown with what he knows about the coming Revolution. It's a long, slow-burning book, and it closes with the family still at Fraser's Ridge and Stephen Bonnet still at large.
