Quick recap

The series trades Stockholm for Gasskas, a made-up small town in Norrbotten, in Sweden's far north. Outside companies are fighting over land and cheap power, and crime runs wild: a biker gang, gambling debts and bound bodies. Mikael, no longer at Millennium, comes to town on a family matter. Lisbeth shows up reluctantly to look after Svala, a 13-year-old niece she has never met. Svala is a lot like her aunt, good with codes and stubborn, and she is searching for her missing mother. All three paths cross at the town pizzeria, where the threads come together. The book opens Karin Smirnoff's run on the series.
