Quick recap

Mikael is in a rut and can't reach Lisbeth, who has sold her apartment. She's in Russia, hunting her sister Camilla, but hesitates at the key moment and lets her go. In Stockholm, a medical examiner calls Mikael: a dead beggar had his number in a pocket. The man was Nima Rita, a Sherpa who guided an Everest climb with Defense Minister Johannes Forsell, on which billionaire Klara Engelman died. Mikael stops Forsell from killing himself and hears the truth about the mountain. Camilla captures and tortures Mikael, Lisbeth arrives in time and disfigures her in the fight, and Camilla later kills herself. Nima Rita's story is published and Forsell resigns. Lisbeth burns down the house she grew up in.

What changed in the movie

  1. Behind the scenesCloser to the Swedish

Hon som måste dö means "she who must die." The Brazilian title stays closer to that than the English one does.

  2. ReferenceThe movie got there first

At the end of the book, Lisbeth burns down the house she grew up in. The 2018 film had already closed on that image less than a year before the book came out.
