Quick recap

Close to retirement, Bosch gets a rookie partner in the cold-case unit, Lucia Soto. The case is odd: mariachi musician Orlando Merced died ten years after being shot in Mariachi Plaza. The bullet removed from him came from a hunting rifle fired from a distance, likely at someone else. The trail leads to a wealthy businessman and a former mayor running for governor. Soto, meanwhile, is secretly investigating the fire that killed nine children when she was a girl, and Bosch covers for her. They conclude Merced was hit in an assassination attempt aimed at another target. Bosch gets caught in an office he shouldn't be in and is suspended, his future up in the air.
