Quick recap

With his squadron broken up, Jack commands HMS Bellona on the Brest blockade under an admiral who dislikes him. At home he fights the enclosure of the village common, and lawsuits over the captured slave ships drain his money. Sophie reads letters from an old flame of Jack's and says she will leave him. Stephen carries Sophie's letter of reconciliation and, in London, plans a Chilean independence expedition with Blaine. With the war winding down, Jack dreads becoming a "yellow admiral," promoted with no squadron. Napoleon goes to Elba, peace comes and Jack asks to be taken off the list. Then Napoleon escapes Elba, and Jack is back in command at Madeira.
