Quick recap

Washington, D.C., 2006. John Sampson asks Cross for help with a serial rapist in Georgetown who echoes an old case the two worked. That case leads back to the day, years earlier, when Cross's wife Maria was killed. For a long time the suspect was Michael Sullivan, the Butcher, a hitman for the Maggione crime family, but he didn't kill Maria. His former partner, Jimmy "Hats" Galati, did. Sampson reveals that he and Detective Rakeem Powell killed Galati in New York years ago and covered it up, and Cross decides to keep the secret. In the end, Cross kills Sullivan. Kayla Coles moves to North Carolina and they split, because Cross won't leave Washington.
