Quick recap

Geralt is hired in Bremervoord to kill the creature blamed for fishermen's deaths, but spares it when a merman swears it's innocent. Jaskier plays the town festival, and the poet Essi Daven, an old friend of Jaskier's, joins them. Prince Agloval loves Sh'eenaz, princess of the merfolk, and attacks at sea push both peoples toward war. Geralt finds the real culprit: the sea witch Melusina, who had been working with King Usveldt, Agloval's father, to drive the couple apart. Swallowed by her, he cuts his way out and kills her. Agloval exposes his father, and at the wedding he's the one who drinks the potion and goes to live under the sea. Essi and Geralt spend a night together and part as friends.
