Quick recap

Uhtred heads north for revenge and finds Guthred, a slave who claims to be king of Northumbria. Uhtred helps him to the throne and falls for his sister Gisela, but Guthred betrays him and sells him into slavery. Rescued, Uhtred joins Ragnar the Younger and Brida to storm Dunholm, Kjartan's stronghold, and Ragnar avenges his father. The story jumps a few years: Uhtred is back serving Alfred, who marries his daughter Æthelflæd to Æthelred of Mercia. The Norse brothers Erik and Sigefrid kidnap her, and Uhtred goes to get her back. The season ends in a bloody showdown at Beamfleot, with Uhtred drifting further from Alfred.
