Quick recap

The Norsemen Sigefrid and Erik Thurgilson, allied with the traitor Haesten, seize Lundene. Alfred tells Uhtred to retake the city and hand it to his cousin Æthelred. Haesten offers Uhtred Mercia if he talks Ragnar into attacking the Saxons, and Uhtred stalls. He saves Father Pyrlig from crucifixion through a duel, then retakes Lundene with a dawn surprise attack and becomes its governor. Alfred marries Æthelflæd to Æthelred, who loses her during a botched campaign. Uhtred discovers that Erik and Æthelflæd are in love. Haesten kidnaps her for ransom, Erik is killed by his own brother, and Uhtred has Osferth kill Sigefrid. Æthelflæd goes home.
