Quick recap

It's 878. Unhappy with Alfred's reward, Uhtred sails north with Hild to go after his uncle Ælfric and his enemies Kjartan and Sven. He frees Guthred, a slave who claims to be king, and helps him take the throne. Guthred betrays him and sells him to the trader Sverri, and Uhtred spends two years rowing as a slave until Ragnar rescues him. Alfred sends him north again. There Uhtred claims Gisela, Guthred's sister, and storms Dunholm with just eleven men. Thyra, Ragnar's sister, turns the hounds on her captors. Finan beats Sven, and Ragnar kills Kjartan. In the end Uhtred defeats Ivarr in a duel and brings his men over to Guthred.
