Quick recap

In 2010, a Soviet-American crew flies the Leonov out to learn what happened to Discovery. The Chinese ship Tsien gets there first and lands on Europa to refuel, but a native life form destroys it. The Leonov reaches Discovery, and Chandra brings HAL back online. Bowman, now a being of energy, visits people from his past and explores Europa and Jupiter, where simple life exists. He warns Floyd they have 15 days to leave. The crew uses Discovery as a booster, and HAL agrees to stay. The monoliths multiply and turn Jupiter into a small sun, Lucifer. HAL broadcasts a warning: all these worlds belong to Earth, except Europa. HAL becomes Bowman's companion.
