Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic, a blue hedgehog who runs faster than sound, flees an echidna tribe after his guardian Longclaw sends him to Earth with a bag of portal rings. Ten years later he hides in a cave near Green Hills and longs for friends. Running in a rage, he causes a blackout across the US, and the government calls in the genius Dr. Robotnik. Sheriff Tom Wachowski finds Sonic, and the two head for San Francisco, where Sonic wants to recover his bag of rings. Robotnik, who uses one of the hedgehog's quills for power, hunts them. Sonic beats him with Tom's help and sends him to a mushroom planet. Tom and Maddie take Sonic in. At the end, a two-tailed fox steps out of a portal looking for Sonic.

1. Behind the scenesSonic was redesigned after the first trailer

   The first trailer came out in April 2019 and fans criticized the near-human Sonic. On May 2, director Jeff Fowler announced he would be redone. The film moved from November 8, 2019 to February 14, 2020. The redesign took about five months and added an estimated $5 million to the budget.

2. Behind the scenesTed the teddy bear was the model

   To fit a CGI character into the real world, the team used the living teddy bear from the Ted films as a reference. Executive producer Tim Miller said a Sonic without fur would look like he was running around nude.

3. SetupThe two-tailed fox at the end

   In the mid-credits scene, a two-tailed fox steps out of a ring portal looking for Sonic. It is Tails, who gets his first real role in the next film.
