King Harold dies and Shrek is next in line. With zero interest in the crown, he heads out with Donkey and Puss to find the other heir, Artie, a high school nobody. Just before leaving, he learns Fiona is pregnant. Meanwhile, Prince Charming rallies the fairy-tale villains and seizes Far Far Away. Fiona, the queen and the princesses fight back, with help from Merlin. On the stage where Charming plans to kill Shrek, Artie talks the villains into dropping their weapons. Charming ends up crushed by a tower. Artie becomes king, and Shrek and Fiona head home to the swamp with triplets.
