Quick recap

It's the last day of seventh grade, and Percy has befriended Tyson, a homeless classmate the school took in. A gym-class attack by cannibal giants brings Annabeth back with bad news: Thalia's tree has been poisoned, and the camp's magic border is failing. Tyson turns out to be a Cyclops and Percy's half-brother. Chiron is fired, and the new activities director, Tantalus, only approves a quest for Clarisse. Percy, Annabeth and Tyson set out on their own after the Golden Fleece, the one thing that can heal the tree. The search takes them into the Sea of Monsters, where Grover is being held.

    In the book, Tyson is a homeless classmate at Percy's school and only shows he's a Cyclops near camp. The series followed the book. The 2013 movie has him at camp from the start.

    In the movie, Luke revives Kronos and Percy beats him with the sword. In the book, Luke's plan fails first: Kronos does not wake up.

    Circe, the Sirens, Scylla and the ship Queen Anne's Revenge come from the book. The Disney+ series brought Circe and the Sirens into S2. The 2013 movie skipped those stops.
