Annabeth Chase

In 2010, Annabeth meets Percy when he tours camp: she is Athena's daughter, with a head for strategy and mythology. She joins him and Grover on the trip toward the Underworld. With her help, the trio takes down Medusa at a New Jersey garden center. They then pass through the Parthenon in Nashville and lose a whole week in the Lotus Casino in Las Vegas. By the time Luke strikes at the Empire State Building, she has proved a central piece of the quest.

In the second movie, Annabeth is the one who learns the Golden Fleece can heal and proposes the quest. She goes with Percy, Grover and Tyson across the Sea of Monsters and escapes Luke's yacht with them; Luke is an old friend. When the showdown comes, Annabeth is gravely wounded, and the Fleece brings her back. It's clear why she is closest to Percy.

In S1, Annabeth recruits Percy for her capture-the-flag team and later he picks her for the quest. In St. Louis, she takes the group to the Arch, a monument to Athena. When Ares asks for his shield back, she and Percy go into Waterland, and Percy ends up trapped on Hephaestus's golden throne. In the Underworld, it is Annabeth who tames Cerberus and clears the way for the others.

In S2, Annabeth returns to camp and warns it is in danger. She knows about the Great Prophecy and plans to keep Percy off the quest, but ends up going with him and Tyson. On Luke's ship, she tries to convince her old friend that the Fleece could save Thalia. On Polyphemus's island, she is the one who finds out the Fleece is a lure and distracts the Cyclops with an invisibility cap.

Annabeth comes from Rick Riordan's books, where she appears from The Lightning Thief on. Leah Sava Jeffries's casting in the series drew online backlash; Riordan defended the actress.
