Quick recap

Twelve-year-old Lucy Dark is always making up monster stories, so nobody believes her when she says she saw librarian Mr. Mortman turn into a monster and eat flies and one of his turtles. Her photo shows only an empty desk, and Mortman catches her spying on his house. Eventually her friend Aaron sees the change too. Lucy's parents invite the librarian to dinner. When he asks what's on the menu, the answer is him: the Darks are monsters, and Lucy and her brother Randy just haven't grown their fangs yet. Too many monsters would scare the town, so Mortman had to go.
