Gabe returns to Egypt to spend the summer with his Uncle Ben and cousin Sari. His uncle has found Prince Khor-Ru's sealed tomb, and he gives Gabe an amber pendant with a scarab inside. He also reveals the words said to wake the mummy. Gabe chants them five times to scare Sari. Later his uncle is trapped in the pyramid, and the mummy walks. A reporter, Nila, appears with Gabe's mummy hand and calls the creature her brother, but the mummy turns on her. Gabe accidentally rips off the pendant that kept Nila alive for three thousand years, and she turns into a scarab. That night, something bites Gabe in bed.
