The agent the CIA no longer wanted

Aaron Cross is Number Five of Outcome, a military program that boosts body and mind with pills. When Jason Bourne exposes the CIA, the government orders every Outcome agent eliminated. Jeremy Renner plays him in The Bourne Legacy.

The Bourne Legacy

Punishment in Alaska

Aaron Cross is on punishment duty in Alaska, on an exercise where he has to cross the wilderness to a cabin. He lies to Number Three about his pills: the chems that keep Outcome agents strong and sharp. The same week, Treadstone and Blackbriar come to light, and Colonel Byer decides to shut Outcome down. A drone kills Number Three, but Cross survives. He shoots the drone down, cuts the tracker out of his hip and gets a wolf to swallow it, then a second drone blows the wolf up. Byer thinks Cross is dead.

The scientist

With no pills, Cross goes to Chicago for fake documents and then seeks out Dr. Marta Shearing, Outcome's scientist. She survived a massacre at the lab, and now the CIA itself wants her dead. Cross saves her from four fake agents and burns the house to cover their escape. She says his body has already adapted, but his mind depends on one last treatment, and only a live virus, made in the Philippines, will do.

Manila

In Manila, Cross and Shearing enter a Sterisyn Morlanta plant under false identities, and he receives the virus. While he recovers in a room, Byer sends an experimental soldier, LARX Number Three, after them. A motorcycle chase follows through streets and rooftops. Cross escapes with a gunshot wound, and Shearing pays a boatman to get them out of the city. In the abandoned room, Byer's team finds only the message on the wall: No More.
