Quick recap

With the wars over, the Surprise sets out to survey the coast of Chile and support its fight for independence from Spain. A collision with a timber ship sends her back to Gibraltar, where Jack collects his share of the captured gold. In Freetown, Stephen proposes to the naturalist Christine Wood. After Cape Horn, Jack and Stephen team up with Sir David Lindsay and the revolutionaries, and an attack on the Royalists at Valdivia nets gold and silver. Lindsay dies in a duel and local feeling turns against the British. Jack cuts out the Spanish frigate Esmeralda at Callao and is wounded. At last the promotion comes: Rear Admiral of the Blue, with a command off South Africa.
