Quick recap

Kit Snicket takes the Baudelaires to the Hotel Denouement, where V.F.D. is set to gather. Posing as concierges, they try to work out who J.S. is. They meet the twins Frank and Ernest, one a volunteer and one a villain, and a third brother, Dewey, who keeps a secret catalog beneath the reflection of the pool. Olaf threatens Dewey with a harpoon gun, and when Mr. Poe interrupts, he shoves the weapon into the orphans' hands. It fires and kills Dewey. At the next morning's trial, the secret judges are villains. The Baudelaires see through Olaf's plan, and Sunny sets the hotel on fire as a warning signal. They escape to sea in the same boat as Olaf.
