Quick recap

Wanted by the police, the Baudelaires climb into a van of volunteers visiting Heimlich Hospital, a half-built building. There, they trick Hal, the man who runs the Library of Records, and find their own file. Only page 13 is left, and it suggests one of their parents may have survived the fire. Esmé shows up to destroy the files, and Olaf captures Violet. Disguised as Dr. Mattathias, he announces a live operation on her head. Klaus and Sunny dress as doctors to stall. Hal accuses the orphans of arson, and the hospital catches fire. The three escape through a window and hide in the trunk of Olaf's car.
