Quick recap

Four novellas show the series through other eyes. In The Queen, Amberly, a Four who has admired Prince Clarkson since childhood, enters his Selection, learns he is far harsher than he seemed, and still ends up queen. In The Prince, Maxon lives through the week before the Selection, still involved with another girl, until he meets America. In The Guard, Aspen covers palace life during the competition, torn between duty and America, until he grows close to Lucy. In The Favorite, Marlee falls for the guard Carter, pays dearly for it, and ends up married to him. The book closes with bonus scenes from the first three novels and a map of Illéa.
