Quick recap

Shy South comes home to find her farm burned and her little siblings, Ro and Pit, taken by raiders. With her stepfather Lamb, a big, quiet Northman, she follows the trail into the Far Country, a gold-rush frontier. They join a wagon train and cross plains, mountains and hostile peoples. Along the way they run into Nicomo Cosca's Company of the Gracious Hand, hunting rebels for the Inquisition, and Temple, the company's lawyer, who is trying to change his life. In the town of Crease the violence boils over, and Lamb shows who he used to be. In the end, Shy gets her siblings back, Temple stays by her side and Lamb heads North alone.
