Quick recap

India, 1803: Sergeant Sharpe survives a massacre by playing dead and sees the face of the man behind it, Lieutenant William Dodd. In 1817, widowed after Lucille's death and living in France, Sharpe is summoned by Wellington to find a missing agent in India. He refuses until he learns the agent is Harper. There, Dodd kidnaps Celia Burroughs, a general's daughter, and takes her to the fortress of young rajah Khande Rao, where he schemes with the concubine Madhuvanthi. Simmerson runs the siege and lets Sharpe slip inside, hoping he'll die. Sharpe and Harper pose as deserters, are betrayed by Sergeant Bickerstaff and set off the powder Dodd hid in the wall. Sharpe kills Dodd, and the two friends ride off together.
