War Storm

Red rebels, Montfort and Cal's Silver allies push on together against Maven, who now has the Lakelands on his side. Cal is crowned but watches his kingdom crack: Red workers leave and the nobles pull their support. The war ends in Archeon. Mare faces Maven in a Silent Stone cell, powerless, and kills him with his own dagger. Iris and her mother, the Lakelander queens, strike the capital from the sea, but their fleet is beaten and a ceasefire ends the invasion. Cal tells Mare he's done being king. She decides they both need time, leaves for Montfort with her family and promises to come back when the time is right.

   The final book has five narrators: Mare, Evangeline, Maven, Cal and Iris. It's also the longest in the series, at 662 pages in the US hardcover.
