A collection that reprints the two Cruel Crown novellas and adds new stories. In one, a Piedmont princess flees a cruel betrothed on a riverboat with a Red riverman while Mare is a prisoner. After the war, Evangeline lives in Montfort with Elane. Under pressure, she abdicates alongside Ptolemus, hears her mother disown her children and finally gets the closure to build a life with Elane. In another, Kilorn works in Montfort's government and dates Cameron. At a gala in Montfort, Mare and Cal, apart since the war, admit they're still in love and start a future together. Maps, flags and bonus scenes round out the book.
