Quick recap

Benji and Jane Carter break Ethan out of a Moscow prison. On their next job, a bomb tears through the Kremlin and the IMF takes the blame. The President invokes Ghost Protocol: the agency is shut down and the team is on its own. With analyst William Brandt, they hunt Kurt Hendricks, codename Cobalt, a strategist who wants to start a nuclear war between the U.S. and Russia. In Dubai, Ethan climbs the Burj Khalifa, but the launch-code exchange goes wrong. In Mumbai, the team stops a missile from hitting San Francisco at the last second, and Hendricks dies. In the end, Brandt confesses he failed to protect Julia. Ethan reveals her death was faked so she could live safely away from him, then gets a new mission.
