Quick recap

With the wedding six months away, Greg and Pam decide to introduce their parents to each other. Greg, Pam, Jack, Dina and baby Little Jack drive an RV to Miami to meet the Fockers: Bernie, a lawyer turned stay-at-home dad, and Roz, a therapist for older couples. The two sides couldn't be more different, and Jack sets out to prove they don't belong in the family. Between fights, pets and secrets, the weekend keeps escalating. The question is whether the two families can survive each other until the wedding.

Hidden details

  1. Behind the scenesThe baby had two actors and spoke in sign

Twins Spencer and Bradley Pickren played Little Jack. Their mother, a pediatric nurse, taught them sign language from birth, and they learned a few extra signs for the film. Casting twins let the production work within child labor hour limits and swap in the other when one got tired.

  2. Behind the scenesRoz had expert consultants

To build Roz Focker, the crew consulted sisters Jennifer and Laura Berman, sex-health experts. They described how hard it is for people in that field not to expose their kids to too much information too soon, and that idea went into the script.

The film opened December 22, 2004 and broke the records for biggest Christmas Day gross and biggest Tuesday, previously held by The Return of the King. It became Robert De Niro's second highest-grossing film, behind Joker.
