Full story
The Guardians of the Galaxy have bought Knowhere, the giant severed head of a Celestial turned into a space base, and now live there with a new member, Cosmo, the telepathic space dog. Peter Quill has been down ever since he lost Gamora, and Christmas is coming. Kraglin tells the team an old story: when Peter was a kid living with the Ravagers, Yondu ruined Christmas for him, and the holiday was never the same for Star-Lord.
Mantis decides Peter deserves a real Christmas and drafts Drax for the mission. The goal is to find the perfect gift. After some thought, they land on the answer: Peter's biggest childhood hero, the actor Kevin Bacon. Without asking anyone, they grab a ship and head to Earth.
In Hollywood, the two act like lost tourists. They visit the Walk of Fame and the Chinese Theatre, mix up statues and fans, and Drax starts trouble in a bar. Using a map of celebrity homes, they find Kevin Bacon's mansion in Beverly Hills. Bacon, of course, thinks he is being attacked by two lunatics in costume and tries to run. Mantis uses her powers to put Bacon and the police in a trance, and the pair haul the star away tied up.
Back on Knowhere, the Guardians throw Peter a surprise party. When he finds out his present is a kidnapped, terrified Kevin Bacon, he is horrified and orders him returned right away. On the trip back to Earth, Bacon hears how his movies inspired the kid who became a hero across the galaxy. Moved, he decides to stay and spend Christmas with the team, and the party becomes the real thing, music included.
At the end of the night, Mantis tells Peter the secret she has kept for years: they are half-siblings, because she is also Ego's daughter. Mantis was afraid the news would remind Peter of the awful things his father did. Peter takes it with surprise and joy, and the special closes with the family of misfits a little bigger and a lot closer.
