Full story
Ulysses Bloodstone, the world's greatest monster hunter, is dead. At his funeral, inside a gloomy mansion, his widow Verussa gathers a group of hunters for an old-fashioned contest. Whoever wins the hunt gets the Bloodstone, a magic gem that grants power to its bearer and marks the family's new leader. Among the guests are Jack Russell, a quiet hunter nobody really knows, and Elsa Bloodstone, Ulysses's rebellious daughter, who left home years ago and came back only to claim her inheritance.
The prey is a monster loose in the garden maze, with the Bloodstone strapped to its body. The hunters go in armed and kill each other as much as they hunt. Jack soon reveals why he is really there: the monster is Ted, the Man-Thing, a friend he came to rescue. Elsa figures out that Jack is not what he seems, and the two make a deal. He helps her get out of the maze with the Bloodstone, and she helps him free Ted.
The plan almost works, but Verussa finds out Jack is a monster too. She captures both of them and uses the Bloodstone to force Jack's transformation in front of everyone. He turns into the Werewolf and tears through the guards and hunters in the hall. In the chaos, the beast corners Elsa but recognizes his partner and leaves her alone. Elsa grabs the Bloodstone back and faces her stepmother. When Verussa touches Ted, the Man-Thing burns her alive.
In the end, Elsa takes over the mansion and the Bloodstone, becoming the owner of the legacy she always rejected. Jack wakes up in the forest, human again, with Ted by his side. He asks if Elsa is okay and is relieved to hear she is. The special closes with the two monsters free and Elsa running the family, an odd alliance that leaves room for all three to come back later.
