Quick recap

Traveling from Maine to San Diego, Reacher takes a detour to Laconia, New Hampshire, where his father Stan grew up. With the help of town clerk Elizabeth Castle and historian Carter Carrington, he learns no one named Reacher ever lived there. He widens the search and reaches Ryantown, an abandoned blue-collar community built around a tin mill. At the same time, two Canadian migrants, Shorty Fleck and Patty Sundstrom, arrive in Laconia with a trove of comic books and take shelter at a motel run by four men.
