Quick recap

The collection opens with the title story: a foreign prince loses a famous ruby, and Poirot spends Christmas at an old-fashioned English country house to get it back, among children, games and a pudding with a surprise inside. Then come The Mystery of the Spanish Chest, with a body in a chest during a party; The Under Dog, about a dead rich man and a suspect nephew; Four and Twenty Blackbirds, which starts with an old man ordering an unusual dinner; and The Dream, with a millionaire who dreams of his own suicide. It closes with Greenshaw's Folly, a Miss Marple case.
