Quick recap

In Jerusalem, Poirot overhears a young man telling his sister, “You do see, don't you, that she's got to be killed?” She is Mrs Boynton, a former prison wardress who rules her stepchildren with cruelty. The family travels to Petra, where the matriarch is found dead in her chair outside her cave. There's a needle mark on her wrist, and every Boynton had a motive. Dr Gerard and young Sarah King help, and Poirot promises the answer within 24 hours. The killer isn't family: it's politician Lady Westholme, a former convict whom Mrs Boynton, her old wardress, had recognized. Exposed, Lady Westholme kills herself.
