Quick recap

Ned learns the truth about Queen Cersei's children and tries to act honorably, warning her before he tells the king. Robert dies after a hunt, Joffrey takes the throne and Ned's plan collapses: betrayed by someone he trusted, he's arrested as a traitor. Tyrion, freed from the Eyrie, returns to his father's side. At the Wall, Jon takes his Night's Watch vows. Daenerys, pregnant by Drogo, watches her brother Viserys finally get the “crown” he demanded. In the North, Robb calls his banners and Catelyn joins him. The volume ends with Varys visiting Ned in his cell and urging him to confess.

Trivia

  1. Behind the scenesBook faces, not TV faces

AIPT's review noted that Tommy Patterson draws the characters as the novel describes them, not with the faces of the HBO cast.

  2. Behind the scenesStraight from the novel

Much of the dialogue comes word for word from the novel. AIPT felt the Varys and Ned cell scene that closes the volume hits even harder than on the show.

  3. Behind the scenesQuick to Spanish

In Spain, this volume came out in September 2014, just two months after the final US issue of the series.
