Quick recap

A year after Galbatorix's fall, Eragon lives on the Riders' mountain in the far east, buried in administrative work. The Eldunarí show him a vision of Murtagh: in a Ceunon tavern, mercenaries shielded by the witch Bachel's amulets try to shake him down, and he beats them with an enchanted fork. Later, Angela and Elva show up unannounced, and the herbalist hands Eragon out-of-order chapters of her memoir that hint at trips to other worlds. Shaken after failing to save two dwarves in a cave-in, Eragon hears an Urgal bard tell the legend of Ilgra and the wild dragon Vêrmund. At the end, he learns that a dragon egg has hatched.
