Quick recap

A year after Inheritance, Murtagh and Thorn roam Alagaësia, hated by everyone. In Ceunon a contact betrays him, and Murtagh finds bird-skull amulets tied to the witch Bachel and a cult called the Dreamers. In Gil'ead, a trap sends Thorn into a panic, and he burns part of the city. The two reach Nal Gorgoth, the valley where Bachel lives. There she drugs Murtagh and enslaves him. With help from the young Alín and the Urgal Uvek, he quits the sedative and escapes during a festival. He renames his sword Ithring, "Freedom," and defeats Bachel. Beneath the hall lies Azlagûr, the cult's god. Murtagh wakes in Ilirea, sheltered by Nasuada, and gets ready to warn Eragon.
