Quick recap

The alien ship arrives and attacks. It destroys human ships and a fleet of miners, killing the adult men of Victor Delgado's family. Victor's warning is ignored, and Earth is unprepared when the First Formic War begins. The aliens land three ships in southeast China and strip the land with a gas that kills everything. Mazer Rackham, a New Zealand officer who was training Chinese troops, rescues a brilliant boy named Bingwen, and the two attack one of the landers. In space, Victor and Imala Bootstamp, with grudging help from Lem Jukes, get close to the mothership and break in through a gun port.
