Quick recap

A century before Ender, a family of free miners aboard the El Cavador spots an alien ship entering the Solar System. At the same time, Lem Jukes, heir to a mining company, bumps the El Cavador off an asteroid to test a gravity laser, and a crewman dies. The alien ship destroys Weigh Station Four, and the El Cavador can't get a warning out. Young Victor Delgado leaves in a jury-rigged ship to warn Earth. The survivors try to plant explosives on the alien ship, but one goes off early; Lem pulls back and the El Cavador is destroyed. Victor reaches Luna, is locked up for entering illegally, and only a case worker believes him. Captain O'Toole gets ready for the attack.
