In one city, people vanish and only their clothes are left. Piccolo finds the culprit: Cell, a bio-android built by Dr. Gero's computer from the cells of Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza and others. He came from another future, where he killed Trunks and stole his time machine, and he needs to absorb Androids 17 and 18 to become perfect. Piccolo, now fused with Kami, nearly wins, but Cell escapes and grows by draining people. Meanwhile, Vegeta and Trunks train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, where a year passes in a day. Androids 17, 18 and 16 face Piccolo and then Cell, and in the end the monster manages to absorb 17.
