Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Saga, vols. 20–24

Dr. Hedo, Dr. Gero's grandson, is hired by Magenta to rebuild the Red Ribbon Army and creates the androids Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, who believe they're superheroes. Manga-only opening chapters set the stage. Piccolo uncovers the plan and sneaks into the base. To pull Gohan into the fight, he stages Pan's kidnapping. Gohan and Piccolo battle the Gammas until the androids realize the Red Ribbon has been lying to them. Magenta unleashes Cell Max, a giant, uncontrolled version of Cell. Piccolo gains a new form and Gohan awakens his Beast state. Gamma 2 sacrifices himself, and Gohan defeats Cell Max. In a manga-only epilogue, Goku and Gohan face off, putting the son's new strength to the test.

   The main story and postlude, chapters 91 to 103, were largely written by Toriyama. The prologue, chapters 88 to 90, was Toyotarou's idea built on Toriyama's input.

   Chapter 103 came out in March 2024. After Toriyama's death that same month, the manga went on hiatus. A Toyotarou one-shot followed in February 2025, closing volume 24.
