Quick recap

In the near future, the classic heroes have retired and a violent, reckless new generation has taken over. Superman went into exile after the public embraced the vigilante Magog. Pastor Norman McCay, guided by the Spectre, watches it all. When a careless battle wipes out Kansas, Superman returns, rebuilds the Justice League and locks the new heroes in a massive prison. Batman forms his own group, and Lex Luthor manipulates Captain Marvel. The prison erupts, and the UN drops a nuclear bomb on the heroes. Captain Marvel detonates it in midair and dies. Superman nearly takes revenge on humanity, but Norman talks him down, and heroes and humans begin to reconcile.
